Dear Parents,
Welcome to 5th grade! My name is Sara Mongiello and I will be your child’s Reading and English teacher for the 2013-2014 school year. I am looking forward to working with your child.
I encourage an open communication between parents and the teacher. We are a team and our biggest interest is your child's education.
Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions, concerns or would like to participate in the many events we will have this school year: [email protected]. I will do my best to return calls and emails promptly.
I am looking forward to having a successful and inspirational school year!
The following are some of our grade and classroom policies:
HOMEWORK POLICY: Work must always be turned in on time.
Homework in Reading and English will be given out daily (Monday through Thursday) and must be returned on the assigned day, usually the next day.
Students, who turn in 100% of their weekly assignments by Thursday will participate in Fun Friday and are more academically prepared for building on that assignment.
ORGANIZATION:
Students must always be prepared with their classroom supplies and assignments.
ABSENCES AND MAKE-UP WORK: When a student is absent, school policy allows homework due dates to be extended one school day per day of an excused absence. Encourage your child to hand it in as quickly as possible so homework completion does not become a problem.
NEATNESS: Each student is encouraged to take pride in the work turned in for a grade. Papers that are messy, wrinkled, torn, have fringes, or are dirty in any way will not be accepted.
FIELD TRIPS: Students are expected to bring permission slips and turn them into the teacher on time. If the student forgets to return the permission on time they will stay in school. Field trip volunteers will be taken on a first come/first serve basis, so please contact me as soon as possible when field trip info. goes out, so that I may take down your name as a volunteer.
Sincerely,
Ms. Sara Mongiello
